Telangana 80: Toppling our Masters and Statues

Every freedom movement involves toppling its masters.  The masters ruling Telangana now are the Seemandhra politicians, leaders and their institutions, supported by Indian Government in New Delhi.  In our revolution, we will also be toppling our masters.  How that toppling will happen, will it be passive and peaceful or active and aggressive, is something that only our masters will decide.  If they let Telangana form without much resistance it will be a passive revolution.  Otherwise, there is a chance it will be an aggressive one.  Borrowing the quote from Dileep:

Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.
-          John F. Kennedy

When the Government of Andhra Pradesh resorted to autocratic and dictatorial methods of completely suppressing all freedoms in this region by arresting more than 100,000 Telangana people merely on suspicion, arresting most of the political leadership right before the march, and setting up hundreds of barricades in the region, the people of this region, especially some of the fiery youth who were arrested again and again in the last one year on whims and fancies of the dictatorial police force of Hyderabad, took matter into their own hands.   The choice left to these protestors was no longer a passive and peaceful revolution.

In the last one year, people of Telangana have led hundreds of thousands of peaceful protests, rallies, and assemblies.   If passive marches would have given us a state, then we should have got our Telangana State thousand times already.  It is clear for people of Telangana that these peaceful marches do not yield any results.  So, how would you convince the protestors to keep it peaceful anymore, especially when you lock up entire leadership?

People Vs Government

Government of Andhra Pradesh took it as a challenge against people of Telangana and enforced the clampdown five days before the march by arresting every leader in the districts of Telangana.  Almost every protestor coming from the districts of Telangana was stopped outside the Hyderabad city.  Police boarded every bus to arrest or stop anyone under 30 from entering Hyderabad.  On the last day 43 trains were cancelled in the region.  All bus services to the city were suspended.  The whole city was barricaded with barbed wires, fencing and armed forces ensuring nobody entered the city.  Within the city, barricades and massive army forces were stationed at all major entry points to make sure the Million March becomes a damp squib.

Instead, Million March became a roaring success.  Thousands of Telangana supporters broke through the barricades facing the prospect of immediate arrest.  It was sheer grit and determination of the Telangana supporters living in Hyderabad.  They came to Tank Bund as if they have won a battle.  Lawyers, doctors, young and old, showed up on Tank Bund.   Some of the leaders had a dramatic entry, like Harish Rao on a boat.  The people were elated and celebrated the spirit of common brotherhood.  However, some young people were quite angry that Prof Kodandaram was arrested.  They gave clear warning on TV that they would go ahead and topple the statues if he was not released.  Government of Andhra Pradesh did not budge.  It let the young people take up the challenge.  And they did.

Breaking the statues

For a very long time now Telanganas were quite peeved that out of 33 statues on Tank Bund only 7 were of people from Telangana.  They asked, ‘how come our hero figures don’t feature?’  Clearly it was another case of Seemandhra's marginalization and suppression of Telangana people.  Today, these youth took the opportunity to topple these statues of Seemandhra hero figures.

If a woman is pushed into complete submission and raped repeatedly, if she cries for help and still nobody pays attentions, and if one day she retaliates with vengeance, slaps the perpetrator on his face and then abuses him, will we now find fault with that woman for raising her hand and for swearing abuses, calling it so-un-lady-like?  Or do we sympathize with her and understand why she had to resort to hitting the perpetrator and why she had to abuse him?

When the rape victim hits back it is a sign of defiance.   When the angry youth destroyed these statues and threw them into Hussain Sagar it is a sign of defiance.

Such expression of defiance is common in almost every freedom movement on the planet.  In almost every people’s movement, the symbols of oppression are attacked.  When Iraqi people got freedom from Saddam, they toppled his statues.  When Egyptians wanted to get rid of Mubarak’s oppressive regime, they went about toppling his statues.  When Telanganas wanted to get rid of Seemandhra rule, they went about toppling their statues.

Government of India and Government of Andhra Pradesh has ruthlessly tried to suppress a genuine democratic expression by deploying thousands of forces across the entire region, putting up barricades, making Telangana look like war zone, arresting people on mere suspicion,  suppressing human rights, and curtailing free movement.  When the fiery youth, who came to Tank Bund fighting through various check posts and escaping from the police, were vandalizing the statues, a respected Telangana activist tried to stop these youth.  The youth asked him, ‘so where were you when we were repeatedly arrested by the police?’  He had no answer.

Be proud or be ashamed?

Some of our detractors, which include the national media and our beloved Seemandhra antagonists, are pained by the destruction of these lifeless statues.  They think it is a shameful act.  They think it is a disgrace to our movement.  Some of the Telangana leaders also have been pushed to feel guilty.

Why should Telangana be ashamed of this act?  Why should it be a disgrace?

While we in Telangana are pained by the arrest of 100,000 people based on mere suspicion and death of 600 students who have committed suicides, the detractors are pained by the destruction of few dumb and lifeless statues on Tank Bund.  It shows where our priorities lies.  While we are interested in preserving the lives of real people and protecting our inalienable rights, there are more interested in preserving objects of stone.   So who is more humane?

I don’t see a reason why we should apologize for this act or feel ashamed.  We have always maintained that Telangana Movement involved cultural renaissance of Telangana.  We are in the middle of a revolution – maybe we can call it Pink Revolution (because you tend to see pink flags everywhere).  This revolution involves de-Andhraization of Telangana.  You cannot have a revolution without removing the statues of your oppressors.  Removal of the statues was something that had to be done eventually.  These statues are not pieces of antiquity.  They were made 25 years ago and they have no archaeological value.

If Seemandhras had cooperated with our movement we would have gladly shipped these statues to their new capital.  But they have given us no choice.  Seemandhras say they have been emotionally hurt.  Well, it’s a small price to pay for all the hurt Telanganas have gone through in the last 54 years of oppression, where we were hurt not just emotionally but politically, economically and culturally.

Today, whole of Telangana should celebrate the destruction of the statues, which are symbols of our oppressors, as the greatest democratic expression of the 40 million Telangana people.  Today, we should take responsibility for what happened on the Tank Bund and say that ‘yes, we are proud of what happened’.

Today, we made it clear.  This is our capital.  Your statues are not welcome here anymore.  You cannot impose them onto us.  Sooner you realize the better it is for all of us.  A movement becomes violent not because it wants to become violent, but it becomes violent only as a reaction to oppressive methods used by the ruling regimes.

Today, the government in power in Andhra Pradesh is an illegitimate government unrecognized by people of Telangana.  All those in seat of power will be discredited and discarded.  And the fate of the politicians in Telangana who do not put pressure on their respective parties and governments will see a similar fate - their political careers will be destroyed and submerged into Hussain Sagar, like the statues of Tank Bund.

  2. Guys it took extraordinary Courage and Creativity to make Million March a Success , a fake wedding was organized near Tankbund so as to give an Alibi for 500 people gathering there, there were Dozens and dozens of Police Check points posted between Telangana zillas and Hyderabad checking people thorughly at each point so Some Doctors Came in a Ambulance so that no one can stop them, Many protesters at Tankbund wore Face masks of Ambedkar, Kodandaram so that they couldnt be Identified by Police and the Great escape feat by Harish rao was straight from Movies, Jumping from Jeep and escaped by bike and took a small boat to reach tankbund.

Dude I started to Tankband from DSNR at 3.45 reached there in 15 mins, parked in a nice spot and Suprisingly the Police Just Gave up stopping protestors i was almost Taunting them taking their Pics on Their face and others were taunting them with slogans to join protests.

Some local Muslims were Providing water to the Protestors, the Songs were Ultimate dude, Just when i went in they were taking down the statues what i found was that the JAC Co-convenor was just sitting 50 feet away from where the statues were getting Demolished, it was a pretty sight dude.

What was suprising was that I always thought the Statues where some expensive Granite , to my astonishment they were all HOLLOW, like cheap POP ones. SO much for Telugu sorry Andhra pride.

  3. One of my cousin in Narsing, near HYD took his uncle(very old man) to hospital due some serious illness. They went directly to doctors house near by(local doctor was at home that time), while doctor examining inside his home my cousin and few of his relatives and friends(around 4-5 people) waiting outside, all of sudden police came and dragged them into vans. Luckly doctor saw this from window and called my cousin's home to inform, other family members came to doctors house to pickup this old man.

Is Annamayya and Sri Krishnadevaraya someone's personal? Are the poets who contributed to richness of Indian culture some region's property? What is ur education and culture and how different r u from Taliban and Mahmud Ghazni etc who tried to destroy culture?

U justify destruction of statues of people who have nothing to do with ur grievances. They contributed to culture and heritage that India is proud of. U compare destruction of national heroes and devoted poets with tinpot dictators and justify ur actions. How much more despicable and morally and ethically bankrupt can u get?

U people take up 600+ lives lost and justify destruction of Annamayya statue for 600 lives lost. Why were there no suicides in 1980s and 1990s before TRS was formed and after 1972 agitations? How will destruction of poets statues compensate for loss of lives?

  5. Every little kid knows that the cops were lenient towards the 'million' people going to tank bund. they wanted to prevent a chaos that would have resulted in people falling into the water.

BBC might think there were 50000 people. Most of saw a different scene there anyway. even assuming that 100000 more people would have come if they had not been stopped....a million is still far away. are you guys surprised that after the march while Jubilee bus stn was full.....imliban was empty. looks like the neighbouring MBNRites saw no reason to join the march.

Sujai.....Hyderabad is not 'your' capital. It is the capital of AP. If you want statues installed....what were you doing for 25 years? Why did you shut your mouths all these years. What are the city MPs and MLAs doing about installing Komaram's statues. What are the Telangana MPs and MLAs doing. Why has the issue not been raised in Assembly or in the GHMC?

Don't you guys understand what will happen now? Public money will be spent on putting up these stupid staues again. ( yes I consider all statues stupid but don't acccept their demolition)

This was not a natural emotion. It was well planned. Now we all will bear the costs.

There was no reason to do the drama by Harish Rao. You think the cops did not see him getting into a boat? There were a dozen police boats in the water.

  8. Good going....I wish telangana be formed as soon as possible. One can see the future of a non telanganite or a so called settler in the state of telangana once it is formed. Then without caring for the people every state of telangana can have stautues of all the telanganite leaders in eevery street or can go ahead and build temples for all the JAC members and its leaders. For a long time all the non telangaintes having been raping telangana people I wish that doesnt continue any more. I wish telanga be the number one state in all aspects, education, health care, business, IT, Infra, Agriculture. In order to have this we got many people out there who work 24 hrs only for the good future of every telanganite person. All the 10 crore people who are willing to have telangana shall take atmost care and work together with peace and harmony in order to live a happy life for themselves and their future generations. I think now no one is able to beleive that once telangana is formed all the non telanganite people can leave peacefully in the telangana state. If this is made clear then i think the process for formation of state would be faster. Just make a statement that all the non telanganite people living in telangana regions shall be thrown away beaten up raped or what ever if they are still living in telangaga. Then i am sure many people shall start evacuating the places out of fear, which they have already started to.Then i think there would not be any problem to form a telangana state. Jai Telangana.

Taanu cheste samsaram pakkinti vaadu cheste vyabhicharam. If I rape a girl and support my reason and get 10 people to support the same then the bad which i did is no more bad because 10 members are agreeing with the reasoning I have given and 1 is against it.

He doesnt comment or write from an idea which comes to him right soon after he woke up from his bed.

So it would be better if you just visit make a comment and leave instead of posing questions and expecting answers. :) There are may such instances where questions were asked and they were skipped and only the ones which were comfortable were answered. Did I ask you why are you pride of telangana state? common man is not going to get any benifit whether the state is divided or not. There is just a hope that it gets better which is debatable. No one is speaking about the statues here. They can be installed if destructed. But there is no point in going on that basis. Why are Apsrtc people pride of there buses? why are school children pride of their examinations? why cant they sacrifice their exams for this great event of forming our telangan state. For an educated indiot it doesnt matter whether you destruct a statue or not.But for a mob it matters a lot. many people in india with your mindset are unable to act strongly in reply to some events that place. What is there in destroying a temple its just a fake idol which can do nothing. where as if a masjid or a church is touched we speak of all the elite classes in india are making it difficult for the other communities to live peacefully.

Feel pride of damaging statues, buildings, burning down buses, cars all public properties because all telangana people are rape victims who have been suppressed by Andra or rayalaseema idiots.

No point in educating you on the way you support and feel like its achievable. If at all it is successfully acheived you in person wont be able to stop bad things happening further, even if a telangana state is formed. According to my knowledge where i am living in a small well, i did not see any one killing a person if he said he is from telangana region. Killing yourself is way far different from other person killing you. One may be thrown in to circumstances where there is no other way than killing yourself, but that doesnt give a solution. But many people out there can surely see that you get beaten up if you say you are from andhra region I myself form an example of this and i am sure you wouldnt open your eyes and ears even if i say this. Now every one has a reason, even if a school kid doesnt get good marks he can blame it on a non telanganite teacher. That not only happens in a region perspective it also happens if he is from an other caste. One individual mistake cannot be tagged to an entire community or region.

For killing hundreds of TG people, did India calling SA people as 'Butchers for TG'?

Who killed hundreds of people? Are you talking about the suicides committed by the people?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Greenstar,
Whenever the TG activists do something horrible like the attack on JP Narayan in assembly or destroying statues they come back with one statement to cover their acts: "600 people have sacrificed their lives for Telangana".

Tomorrow they can rape a seemandhra woman walking on the road and if someone asks them why they did it they will say "600 people have given their lives. We should talk about that. Is raping one woman such a big deal?"

First of all you need to understand that neither the police nor the SA people killed these 600 people. Most of them committed suicides and no one wants people to commit suicides. Really. I feel really bad for their parents. So if someone climbs up a building or a cell phone tower and says give us separate state right now or I will jump off. I really don't know what to tell them other than please don't be stupid and think about your parents and loved ones.

I will use Sujai's favorite example of a boy forcing a girl to be in relationship. This is similar to that. A boy proposes a girl. Girl rejects, the boy commits suicide. On one hand you feel really bad for the boy. But on the other hand, do you say the girl killed the boy? Is she really responsible for his death? Shouldn't the boy have the courage to face the problems in life and deal with them bravely?

So next time try to convince people not to take such extreme steps. Don't give a match stick to somebody who put kerosene on himself. Please don't use it for your own politics.

  32. Its High time government should stop delay tactics can come with clear solution for or against the formation

There is enough divide already within people and it is ending up in rivalry between regions

the possible solution could be congress should ask any leader who wants telangana to merge with them and make 'em ministers and CM till end of their term

And these leaders should be regulary monitored by T-JAC for the devlopment of the T region

IF they have enough resistance from SA and no progress at end of congress term

Bill should be introduced in parliment

Credibility of the leaders is always a question ?

It might look too late for this solution but people of T high natural tolerance level and if you can make 'em happy to the core this issue will never surface

Leading intellectuals from Seemandhra have called upon the lawmakers in Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema to stop opposing the immediate formation of Telangana with Hyderabad as its capital.

"We appeal to the MPs and MLAs of the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions not to oppose the formation of separate Telangana state. Instead, they should help in the peaceful reorganization of the state," they said.

The signatories to the joint appeal recently sent to the lawmakers are: Pothuri Venkateswara Rao, senior journalist, Tripuraneni Hanuman Chowdary, former IT advisor to the state government, Kakarla Subba Rao, former director of Nims, N Bhaskar Rao, social scientist, and Katti Padma Rao, social activist.

They said that the inclusion of Telangana to create Andhra Pradesh in 1956 had been against the wishes of the majority of leaders from the region. "The separation between the Telangana and the Seemandhra areas since 1800 CE had created unbridgeable gulf between social, educational economic milieu and political and cultural consciousness of the two regions. The last five-and-a-half decades of togetherness had failed to bring about equitable development in different regions and harmonize the relations between the peoples,'' they said.

The presence of about 30 lakh people from Coastal and Rayalaseema in Hyderabad for the last 56 years should not be a factor in deciding the future of the state. They will continue to remain an integral part of the Hyderabad the same way as the Maratha, Kannadiga, Gujarati and Punjabi people. Claiming special rights by these or any other group is irrational and unjustified.

"The apprehensions of these people have to be removed by discussions (with the leaders of Telangana and Central government). The need of the hour is the emotional oneness, which is severely lacking, rather than an enforced administrative and political togetherness of the regions as a single integrated state," they added.

There are no 'Andhra' gods. Have you heard of Vemulawada, Basara, Vargal, Alampur.

If you think Pochamma, Mysamma are 'Telangana' deities you are mistaken. They exist all over AP and TN and Karnataka with different names. People used to visit these dieties to get relief from Measles and Small Pox.

Unless ofcourse you want to do in India what the Pakis are doing to Hindu Temples in Pakiland.

About 50,000 people have defied an unofficial curfew in the Telangana region of south India's Andhra Pradesh state to rally for a separate state.

Police say that 100,000 people have been detained - many in public auditoriums and stadiums - to prevent them attending the rally in Hyderabad.

Those held include the head of the Telangana Joint Action Committee and about 50 members of the state assembly.

The protesters dubbed their gathering as a "million-man" rally.

But in the event few demonstrators were allowed by the authorities to congregate.

    Widespread protests
Deep divisions have emerged over the Telangana issue over the past 15 months.

In December 2009, India's Congress Party-led government promised that the new state would be formed, but later said more talks were needed.

The announcement prompted widespread protests in the region.

    Fifty-year campaign for separate status
More than 400 people died in 1969 crackdown
In the latest disturbances on Thursday, police used tear gas and batons to disperse protesting students at Osmania University in Hyderabad.

In addition, barricades and police road blocks were set up all over Telangana to prevent people from attending the "million-man rally".

The BBC's Omer Farooq in the city says that there is a tense atmosphere there and elsewhere across Telangana with schools, shops and businesses closed down.

Our correspondent says that the police security operation made it practically impossible for protesters inside and outside Hyderabad to attend the rally - all train and most bus services in Telangana were suspended.

Among those detained was Kodanda Ram, head of the Telangana Joint Action Committee, along with about 50 members of the Andhra Pradesh state assembly who support separate statehood.

The BBC's Soutik Biswas in Delhi says that the latest protests could once again re-ignite the Telangana issue and provoke further mass demonstrations.

The final decision on a new state lies with the Indian parliament. But the state assembly must also pass a resolution approving its creation.

Opponents of the move are unhappy that Hyderabad, home to many major information technology and pharmaceutical companies, could become Telangana's new cap

On one hand you feel really bad for the boy. But on the other hand, do you say the girl killed the boy? Is she really responsible for his death? Shouldn't the boy have the courage to face the problems in life and deal with them bravely?

That's a right way of putting it Hyderabadi.

It is exactly this attitude of sheer callousness to life, history, culture and property which makes Hyderabadis say they want a separate state.

If you look at the portraits of the figures in the parliament how many will be from South India or AP? So should Telanganas attack the parliament building?

Sujai et all seem to have no idea of what democracy means. If we go on slicing we will find that every region/section can say they are discriminated. Big deal.

The only way out is a separate state of Hyderabad in Pondicherry or New Delhi style. I have noticed the hardening of stand from the SA guys which is a good sign for the formation of the state of Hyderabad.

Its a lot premature to reach that conclusion POK.

The issue is that they do not want to bring things to the street. They have always been stating that without them "no conclusions" should be reached. Even if a separate HYD is formed they will still not be a majority and note that there are pockets they can win with a HUGE majority but they are not spread out enough to get the "majority" of seats in the future assembly of the state of Hyderabad. They will be kingmaker always but never King which is anyway what they will love - in fact the first state of its kind.

They are just quiet because they don't want a street fight and they know its difficult to control their cadres. There's a lot of talk within themselves and a lot of desire for a separate state of Hyderabad. But the leadership will remain quiet and seeks to only speak it behind doors with Chidambaram et all. And one should not forget that Owaisi has a very good rapport with Madam Sonia.

Let us see what some of these great men would have said:

Srisri justified violence for a cause with these magic words:

    అహింస ఒక ఆయుధమే కానీ ఆశయం ఎప్పుడూ కాదు
    ఆశయం సాధించడానికి ఆయుధం అవసరమే మరి

Gurram Jashuva in his great work గబ్బిలం is sharply critical of the society which allows a bat inside a temple but not a human being. His grand daughter is one of the thousands of Andhra leaders supporting Telangana.

"How will destruction of poets statues compensate for loss of lives?"

Are you asking us to kill Andhra people in retaliation? We will not do so.

When will the assembly of your state pass a resolution mourning our children?

I said: Your statues are not welcome here anymore.
I did not say: “YOU are no longer welcome here”.

There’s a big difference. If Telugus impose their statues onto Kannadigas in Bangalore, and if Kannadigas protest against them asking for their removal, I would support these protesting Kannadigas. I wouldn’t want Telugu statues to be ‘imposed’ onto Kannadigas.

The key element here is ‘impose’.

I would be happy if Kannadigas willingly embrace Telugu statues and install them in their city, but I would not impose it onto them.

2.if u like telangana so much, y did u keep ur firm in blore and not in hyd?

    Stupid question!
I can love Whales and fight for their survival – that does not mean I have to live in the ocean.

3.u allow american mcdonals and dominos, karachi bakery(named after the city of a country whose govt killed lakhs of Indias), british library but not andhra poets statues.is it right on ur part?

You are free to change McDonalds’ name or Karachi Bakery’s name.
    OR
You can embrace something out of your free will.

I believe we embraced them out of our free will - nobody imposed them onto us.

But if Americans were to impose McDonalds or Pakistanis were to impose their Karachi bakeries onto Indians by subjugating them, then I would support Indians in their protest against these icons.

I can clearly see that you do not have necessary mental faculties (nor writing skills) to comprehend the difference between what is ‘embracing’ out of one’s free will, and what is ‘imposed’ against one’s will.

Telanganas did not agree to the statues right from the time they were installed on the Tank Bund. Those statues were installed against our will. They were imposed onto us.

  105. "Telanganas did not agree to the statues right from the time they were installed on the Tank Bund. Those statues were installed against our will. They were imposed onto us".

That is exactly the problem. Telanganas had no right to 'disagree' to put the statues. Hyderabad is not anyone's personal property. It belongs to all people of the state. The Telanganas had every right to expect and in its absence demand the installation of statues of their own stalwarts.
Who are you say 'against our will'? Sujai, that is the crux of the problem with you. You are arrogating to yourself ownership of something that is not only yours. They respect those leaders who did nothing for them while they were suffering under Nizam.
But they have objections to leaders who did nothing for or against Telangana.

Their leaders do not even know copying others. After NTR installed these statues MCR became CM for second time. But he did not care to install statues of T legends. Nor PV, only PM from AP tried to give such respect to T legends.

just because the merger is conditional people of andhra doesn't need consensus on even installing statues, its justifies if you demand some statues from your side but don't try to dectate what are welcome what not, its funny even after 6 decades we are concidered as aliens in our own state.

what do you mean by Impose? those statues are not built front of you home nor any one forced you to do pooja every morning.

A state is formed under linguistic lines keeping aside you like it or dislike your region is officially merged with Andhra and trasformed into Andhra Pradesh for more than 6 decades now. its ironic that you reject a song pricing the states official language which is we all speak..whats your problem with Ma Telugu talli song? where the song is all about Telugu and the names of the people mentioned in the song are icons of Telugu Culture regardless of their region, there are two names specified in the song who are from Telangana region but i don't think their names or specified on regional grounds, if that is the case you wouldn't see Tyagayya who is from tamilnadu and Srikrishna Devaraya from Karnataka...is that something you don't identify your self as a Telugu?

its understandable if you break statues of Kasu Brahmanandha reddy or any other politicians whos from Andhra but limiting these cultural icons to a perticuler region is rediculous and people who justifies that or nothing less of a people who demolished Babri Masjid, who welcomed Islam to India? are we going to demolish all masjids because they are Impossed on us?

I believe, you do it all with a purpose to create hate and gulf between two regions so that it appears like living together is impossible! but i don't think that will work.

    Look at it like this.

Once Telangana state is formed they will want to "impose" their leaders and culture and statues on Hyderabadis.

The Hyderabadis will never "embrace" them and will demolish those statues.

This is how the future will look like unless of course a separate state of Hyderabad is given when we will put up the statues we want - like of the old Nizam, the Ghazal singers, the Hindi and Urdu literary luminaries and Telugu poets and luminaries.

Like you Sujai think they "imposed" we are afraid that you will "impose" statues of some heroes whom Hyderabadis don't "embrace"

    ReplyDelete
  121. It's better those destructed statues are replaced with those luminaries of Telangana that the T-vadis want. Re-installing those statues after being destroyed would be a greater disgrace to those personalities. They better be installed at a place where they would not be destroyed again.

  125. Ideally, we don't want any statues on Tank Bund Road. This statue business has been pushed too far. Andhras are welcome to take the remainaing statues and keep them in their new capital.

But since CM of AP is taking it as a challenge to re-install them, T-vaadis are pushing for their statues.

This is the right time for 'separate-Hyd-vaadis' to come out in the open and express what they want. Otherwise we will be forced to believe that no such people exist, and that such a movement for separate-Hyd is figment of imagination of few demented souls.

Right now, there are many Hyderabad-specific forums and they all support Telangana including representations from Old city (that's why MIM has started to change their stance). They take active participation in the movement and express their opinions to influence them.

Most of the people on Tank Bund from 10th March were people from Hyderabad - doctors, lawyers, IAS officers, veterans, have all come in thousands representing Hyderabad.

To be honest, we strongly believe that no such 'separate-Hyd' movement exists. We believe that all those who ask for such a thing are actually Seemandhras living outside Hyderabad. We believe that even Sera is NOT living in Hyderabad. We would like to see at least one procession or protest in Hyderabad which seeks 'separate-Hyd' status for us to beleive that such an opinion exists in Hyderabad.

We would like to see at least one procession or protest in Hyderabad which seeks 'separate-Hyd' status for us to beleive that such an opinion exists in Hyderabad.

So how do you know that people who were there on Tank Bund that day are NOT Hyderabadis?

    1. I said "MOST". Hope you get the meaning of that.

    2. And like I clarified there are Telanganas who were Hyderabadis and SAs who are Hyderabadis.

    3. And for Madamjee's The editor of Siasat,Jawed Ali Khan Saab,is not a Hyderabadi??? He is and so is Sania Mirza. Was she at the March? Stop being Schizrophenic and stop giving idiotic examples.

I repeat myself with rephrase so that you may understand better. Most of them were Telanganas who are Hyderabadis (Chukka Ramaiah one example) like there are many SAs too who are Hyderabadis and who were not present (Dr. Anji Reddy and his son) at the march. And there were many non-telugu speaking Hyderabadis (like the Shaw family) who were not part of the march.

There were very few (actually miniscule) non-telugu speaking Hyderabadis at the march. And the ones like Siasat editor who were there were there because they have straight-forward political and real estate interests and gains to make which you may not know but we know.

Hyderabad is very friendly. Just stay for four years and you become a Hyderabadi ;-)

We are not hate mongers. Telanganas, SAs and all non-telugu people who stay for more than four years are Hyderabdis.

Like I said Hyderabad when made separate will be like Singapore or Hong Kong where everyone is welcome from India, SA and Telangana.

And that's why we need a Goa style referendum.

Even a UT status for Hyderabad AND as TG capital is also fine.

The issue here is that Hyderabad needs to be separate - UT with joint capital (which the SAs want), semi-statehood status with assembly Pondicherry or Delhi style (which Owaisi and Danam and Mukesh etc want), UT and only capital of TG (which I am sure many Hyderabadis can be brought round to agree to this). . .

    anything is fine.

By asking the fate of Hyderabad to be left into the hands of a few earlier settlers,is dumb.

The educated and rich fools of Hyderabad of the 1950's,could neither save themselves, nor the poor of the land, from being exploited by the SA's....Asking the people of Telangana to repeat the mistake is not just dumb,it's outright selfish....

Excellent, explosive, incisive, sharp, frank, fact based and commendable and demanding speech which is hard hitting on the face of Congress Governments at the Centre and State. This speech explains accurately SITUATION IN TELANGANA TODAY.

Mr Akbaruddin Owaisi reflected the SENTIMENTS OF TELANGANA PEOPLE ON THE FLOOR OF AP ASSEMBLY. No other leader from any other party had spoken these words so far. This speech is worthy of seeing and appreciation by all Telangana protagonists, who only immediately appreciate speeches of Sushma Swaraj but not of Owaisi brothers.

His elder sibling and MP, Mr Asaduddin Owaisi also spoke a few days back in Parliament demanding Hyderabad should be made Capital of Telangana, if Union Government decides to form Telangana State but not joint capital or union territory.

I never said, nor believed that the settler's do not have any rights...

The different cosmopolitan communities of Hyderabad,
agree that the people of Telangana have suffered great neglect, and injustice, during Nizam and SA rule.....

What they fear the most is the large extent of communal violence that can break out,if they take to streets, with their Telangana brethren.
With the line between justice and righteousness becoming, thinner by the day in AP,we are unable to make the promises that they seek, with the Central and State governments playing a power game with Telangana....

They cannot come forward unless promises are made, and the leaders of T,are unable to make them, unless they provide them with their support.......

It is a kind of dead lock, which will go full throttle in 2014....

You are wrong there. They will not agree with anyone who says that Hyderabad and Telangana are different. That's all. You say that and then they will go into one of those naxalite songs.

We have been in this city for around 2 to 4 centuries but just because we want a separate Hyderabad because we believe that Telangana and Hyderabad are different they call us too settlers. So according to them I don't know who is a native.

Looks like a panel of Prof Jayshankar, Sujai, Lavanya, TG, tin tin, KCR will all sit down and brand (as in buffaloes) and put a mark on people's body's which gives them the legitimate right to say they are actual Hyderbadis.

And see the irony - this branding will be done by non-Hyderabadis who come from warangal, karimnagar or Nizambad just because they have brute majority and are violent (you should have seen the goonda way TRS collected donations from business men).

How is that different from when they claim that SAs use their majority. At least SAs never resorted to brutish violence or goonda gardi.

We Hyderabadis want a separate state Delhi or Pondicherry style with a assembly.

Hyderabad will be like Singapore or Hyderabad where everyone is welcome and their lives and properties protected.

As rightly pointed out - if peaceful protests are not possible it will become violent. I am glad the false pride of crushing the peace march was destroyed on that day.

With lakhs of litres of sewage water flowing into Hussain sagar ( a drinking water lake at one time) and with municipal dumpyard behind the statues. Everyone knows how much respect was there for the statues. The statues were breathing in stink 24/7. Good work on the post and keep more coming. Please get inspired by the Seema-Andhra sympathizers posts to write even more insightful posts.
