Telangana 45: Stand on Sri Krishna Committee

It is clear that introduction of Srikrishna Committee is a step backwards for Telangana from Dec 9th statement.  Srikrishna Committee is NOT formed to bring in Telangana.  Instead, it is formed to “study” if Telangana is indeed “underdeveloped”, and if so, how and where.   There is no clear indication if the recommendations from this committee will be binding upon the government.  There is no indication if this committee is going to give one clear solution to the current problem or propose a set of measures like Times of India does – present both ‘view’ and ‘counterview’.

What should Telanganas do now?

We should embrace Srikrishna Committee for what it is – a study of Telangana, to understand how it is underdeveloped, where it is underdeveloped.   We should cooperate and extend our support to this committee by supplying various papers, books, research materials and historical evidences.  The report from this committee could be used by Telangana in future, to educate our progeny on our history, to help our administrators to rule better in future, to make a case against Andhras who have discriminated us, and as vindication of why we formed our new state.

However, we should completely, unanimously and categorically reject Srikrishna Committee as a political solution to the current situation in Telangana, because it doesn’t provide one.  There should no expectation whatsoever that Srikrishna Committee will provide a solution to the current problem in the state.  What is needed is not another ‘study’, not another ‘research’, but an action that demonstrates political expediency, a political and unequivocal decision that solves the problem of Telangana right away – which is creation of Telangana.   All the actions should be towards that direction – the next and immediate steps should be: decision on the fate of Hyderabad, agreements on sharing of resources, repatriation of settlers, compensations to different regions, etc.  Nothing more nothing less.

Let’s make it clear to ourselves now.  We don’t want to be a guinea pig for another social research.

Why do we fear this committee?

When we reject this committee, our detractors celebrate it as a vindication of their stand that Andhras never discriminated Telanganas.   They ask us, ‘what do you fear? That the truth will come out – that we never discriminated you?’

Let it be known to the world that we do not fear this committee.  We reject it because we know exactly where this is leading us.   So many commissions, so many agreements have come before – and we know the exact outcome of all those.  Nothing happened.  The fact that Andhras are celebrating after listening to terms of reference should tell us something.   Leaders like Chiranjeevi are requesting for the report’s deadline be extended into next year.  That should tell us something.

The formation of this committee is only a delay tactic.  This is thrust upon us only to buy time.  This is only to ensure the movement wanes or turns violent.  That way this movement can be crushed.  That way the hegemony can continue as before.

It is not that we don’t believe the integrity of the committee members.  In fact, the fact finding mission will validate our assertions that we were discriminated in this state.  We believe that the report from Srikrishna Committee will bring in great value to our current people’s movement.   Their findings will be of immense importance to people of Telangana while we chart our new course.  The research material will be used by future leaders of Telangana to identify the areas that need attention, focus on the key issues, and make sure we don’t repeat the mistakes of Andhra Pradesh in new Telangana.

However, we are not interested in waiting for another academic research which has no teeth, which has no power to make their recommendations binding.  In short, we reject the committee since it is not the political solution we are waiting for.  We embrace the committee only to produce a nice research material for our future.

Seek political decision

The solution to Telangana problem lies in political decisions, not in committees, studies or research.  We have had 53 years of overwhelming evidence of false promises and broken agreements.   That is good enough to demerge this state which was formed on a conditional merger based on set of safeguards and protections which were all flouted or revoked.  All political parties have promised to grant Telangana statehood in the last ten years.  So, why prepare another case?  What we need  is an immediate decision that decides the fate of Telangana.

Between 1857 and 1947, British sent many fact finding missions to India.  Each of them made recommendations.  Some were taken up and some were not.  But when it came to giving independence to India in 1947, no committee was sent on a fact finding mission.  Instead, Lord Mountbatten was sent to transfer the power, to free the nation, not to research, study and then give a report.  That’s what we are seeking right now in Telangana - a clear and emphatic decision that actually spells out creation of Telangana, and the steps towards that creation, not another commission or mission.

Next Steps

The agitation was started to bring in Telangana, not create an academic report.   Telanganas have to step up the agitation and not wait for 31 December 2010 report.   They should bring an immediate closure to what was initiated on 9th December 2009.   The current solution is based in politics and for that a political fight has to be taken up.

I propose the following:
  1. JAC should take more responsibility and accountability for the political agitation of Telangana.  They should make fewer pronouncements and create more action.  They should be in charge of entire Telangana agitation at political and people’s level.
  2. JAC should make binding agreements with all its members – this dillydallying on part of some political parties within the state is not helping the agitation to make a concerted effort.  JAC should ensure that all parties are on board before spelling out a decision or action.  Right now, we see the whole agitation going disarray. For example, some political outfits resign while others did not.
  3. JAC should regulate all campaigns across the region, so that various bodies are prepared and enacted with a clear focus.  Right now too many agitations are happening on their own without a single goal or objective in mind.  A campaign advisory group should be formed which clearly details all activities for the future.
  4. Entire Telangana should prepare itself for a massive non-cooperation movement.  Steps should be taken up by JAC to announce a series of non-cooperation activities and prescribe them to people of Telangana so that they can carry out them out.

  1. The simple law of economics is that money talks! We the people of Telangana shall:

    1) Implement total non-cooperation to the government: No taxes paid, no bills paid
    2) Boycott all products and economic services from Andhras
    3) Buy only from businesses (grocery stores, shops, etc) that explicitly support the Telangana state

  2. In my opinion whaterver committe was formed should have been told to go through the report submitted by Fazal Ali Commission and review both the cases for Telangana and merger of Telangana with Andhra in a very critical manner. Once they understand both the cases then they should start from how the recommendations were flouted from the very begining by merging Telangana with Andhra in 1956 instead of 1961, Gentlemen's agreement and how it was flouted from the very first day, why the migration only happend one way, Indepth analysis of 1969 agitation, abolition of Mulki rules, all the agreements made to keep the state united and violtion of the same agreements by Andhra people, why 610 GO was issued and how it is still not implemented for over 25 years...etc.,

One thing I dont understand is that these Andhra people deliberately violate the laws and agreements and still pretend that they are sane and if the victims of their acts rise to fight back for their legal rights they label them as fanatics...according to them Tamils are fanatics, people of Telangana are fanatics..or everyone who say that these people did not do what they agreed upon.

As you said there has to be more coordination in the JAC members and everyone should be bound to the JAC decisions and not their party and there should be no dilly dally.

The main problem is the politicians. They do know that the situation is very grave in Telangana region yet there seems to be no unity or one voice among the politicians of the Telangana region. They are more loyal to the party than people. The terms of reference got the whole thing completely wrong.

I cannot agree with you more on this. I have read very few articles by you on other subjects on your blog. You have an opinion about most things... and expressing them is your right.

I agree with most of your views on Telangana, on Majority protecting the rights of minorities, on the pathetic state of democracy in Telangana and a few such.

It is about time the "aam aadmi" uses his POWER to achieve Telangana. I am not talking about the cliche' and much abused 'vote' power....

Every individual in India is a 'Consumer' and consumers have the power to make or break any business/businessman.

Let there be a UNITED boycott of all things ANDHRA!!!

Let there be a UNITED AND VOLUNTARY boycott of all telugu movies for the next couple of yrs.

Let there be a HAPPY WHOLE-HEARTED and VOLUNTARY boycott of alcohol in all Telangana districts.

Let all our students, teachers, professors, employees, everyone... take one day a week and go deep into our villages and do a concerted effort at educating our folks on a bunch of things like:

    1. Rights of free people
    2. Anti-discrimination
    3. Social reforms and rights of women and backward classes and castes
    4. The opportunities available to the people to better their lives
    5. The value and importance of saving for tomorrow
    6. Family planning and such measures.

I would like to see our folks do this and continue to do this till we achieve Telangana.... a free Telangana .... where even the un-educated country-side person knows his rights, duties and choices.

How about reviving the JANMA-BHOOMI in a totally non-political fashion? May be... just may be.. this will gather the media's attention.

Afterall, everyone has a problem with the agitators forcibly stopping adurs from being aired.... but, how would they deal with a situation where people VOLUNTARILY stop going to the theaters?

Can't the telangana folks survive for a few months watching the hindi movies and giving up on alcohol?

  6. On the police action on students last night at Osmania University:

"You see," my colleague went on, "one doesn't see exactly where or how to move. Believe me, this is true. Each act, each occasion, is worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next. You wait for the one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join with you in resisting somehow. You don't want to act, or even to talk, alone; you don't want to "go out of your way to make trouble." Why not? - Well, you are not in the habit of doing it. And it is not just fear, fear of standing alone, that restrains you; it is also genuine uncertainty.

"Uncertainty is a very important factor, and, instead of decreasing as time goes on, it grows. Outside, in the streets, in the general community, "everyone is happy. One hears no protest, and certainly sees none. You know, in France or Italy there will be slogans against the government painted on walls and fences; in Germany, outside the great cities, perhaps, there is not even this. In the university community, in your own community, you speak privately to you colleagues, some of whom certainly feel as you do; but what do they say? They say, "It's not so bad" or "You're seeing things" or "You're an alarmist."

"And you are an alarmist. You are saying that this must lead to this, and you can't prove it. These are the beginnings, yes; but how do you know for sure when you don't know the end, and how do you know, or even surmise, the end? On the one hand, your enemies, the law, the regime, the Party, intimidate you. On the other, your colleagues pooh-pooh you as pessimistic or even neurotic. You are left with your close friends, who are, naturally, people who have always thought as you have.

"But your friends are fewer now. Some have drifted off somewhere or submerged themselves in their work. You no longer see as many as you did at meetings or gatherings. Informal groups become smaller; attendance drops off in little organizations, and the organizations themselves wither. Now, in small gatherings of your oldest friends, you feel that you are talking to yourselves, that you are isolated from the reality of things. This weakens your confidence still further and serves as a further deterrent to ·to what? It is clearer all the time that, if you are going to do anything, you must make an occasion to do it, and then you are obviously a troublemaker. So you wait, and you wait.

"But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds or thousands will join with you, never comes. That's the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and the smallest, thousands, yes, millions would have been sufficiently shocked

But of course this isn't the way it happens. In between come all the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.

"And one day, too late, your principles, if you were ever sensible of them, all rush in upon you. The burden of self deception has grown too heavy, and some minor incident, collapses it all at once, and you see that everything, everything, has changed and changed completely under your nose. The world you live in ·your nation, your people ·is not the world you were in at all. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed.

The system itself could not have intended this in the beginning, but in order to sustain itself it was compelled to go all the way.

U do not have an understanding of the consequences of the means u are advocating to achieve separate state. U allege an injustice was done where Telanagana was discriminated. So, why not a white paper or report to prove it? If u can show us where there were committees and reports on this issue, it would be great enlightenment. This country has constitution and there are means in the constitution to achieve a state. If u owe allegiance to the constitution, follow the practices that strengthen trust in democracy using legislature. Not on the streets. If you had the same convicition to fight against your fellow people who have illegally obtained the jobs of the Telangana people and your politicians who have supported such law-breaking individuals inspite of the constituitonal safe-guards and government orders (GO 610 & Mulki Rules) -- this shows your double standards..just think how you are responding to the Union Ministry of Railways against the injustice done towards Andhra (&Telangana). Can you publish a white paper on that? If JAC is extra constitutional the AP MP group (all party) that shouted that the Railway minister is acting as a Minister for that state and not the whole country (they also make sure that he/she is the minister because of the strength of the MPs from Andhra (& Telangana)) is also extra constitutional.

  27. To all those barking on Mulki rules , andhras didnt accept Mulki rules . The people who signed gentlemens agreement took the decision arbitrarily on behalf of Andhra. Who are those guys to sell away our future ? The thinking of a gentlemens agreement is in line with the thinking that doras and zamindars will decide the fate of all people ,not eleceted representatives.

Coming back to Mulki . It is a pre independence rule made by Nizam. SC had quashed GO made on basis of mulki in 1969 stating that GO was in violation of fundamental rights. SC upheld Mulki rules in 1972 only on the premise that we should respect pre independence laws.

Now coming to the immorality of mulki rules , a telangana guy going to any other place in the city, has only to live there for 7 years to get domiciled but any indian citizen who comes to Telangana will have to live or study here for 14 years to get domiciled. These mulki rules are clearly against constitution , it is no wonder center influenced SC in getting that judgement ,to stop trouble in Telangana .

Now we know ,most govt head offices will be in a capital ,so majority of jobs will be in capital ,but as per mulki rules ,people from non telangana stood no chance of getting a job in Hyd.

You should understand a know about the mulki rules first before commenting. Mulki rules does not say that all jobs created in captital are reserved for Telangana people. For insatnce, there was a only a small reservations for telanganas in state secratairiate. someweher around 30-40%. Currently there are only 15% to 20% of telangana people working here.

Mulki clearly states that one has to live or study for 14 years in Telangana area to be eligible for a job in Telangana .Now how will a non telangana person be able to live for 14 years in Telangana or study for 14 years in Telangana. This rule doesnt say any reservation ,but effectively gives 100% reservation to Mulkis.

This talk of 40% came after merger, mulki was there much before that .

And by expressing there rights to resist, what do they do? They clamp down on the crowd. I don't care what fu@king news channel said the violence was two sided, the fact is those mother fu@kers unloaded on an unarmed crowd. None of the students had face shields!! Tear gas shells!! Gas masks!! All they had was there fists, there voices, there banners, there friends, there chants and there slogans and there songs. And anytime they get beaten in the streets for protesting, they take it to the court system, and the court system doesn't want to hear it. Look at what happened in 1969 - they shot numerous rounds on those people and left 360 dead students at the wake. And they let all murderous police officers be. I still remember the horror i felt when a pregnant woman in a car was attacked with stones when OU students went on rampage before Dec 9th.

As for mulki ,do i need to be 90 years old to speak about 90 year old laws. The number of years i have stayed in hyd ,whether i stay in Hyd doesnt matter to this discussion as every person in AP has a stake in this issue.

And anytime they get beaten in the streets for protesting, they take it to the court system, and the court system doesn't want to hear it.

Didnt the courts give permission for your student 'naxals' to hold their meetings when cops denied permission.

Do you know the meaning of 144 section ? If police stops you because of 144 section ,you should go to court and get 144 section removed, you don't have right to throw stones at police. Why do the students easily get enraged and throw stones? Do they think that this is a game ?

I hope that students learned their lessons and will protest peacefully in future.

This is the greatest brain wash done by Telangana fanatics. Picturing Andhras as colonizers who came to Telangana to loot them has been their main victory. After that prejudice has been firmly planted ,all actions by AP govt will look like colonial actions to you.

As for the students incident , they have been told that 144 section is in place and they cannot enter city as a group rally. But instead of listening to the police ,these 'naxal' students attack police and injure them .

According to Telangana logic ,police should have let a mob which just attacked police ,inside the city so that they can attack innocent people and their properties.

  58. Reality:

If you are waiting for Telangana it will never materialize.

We will materialize it this time. That's why we are trying to educate our fellow Telangana the kind of mindset and onslaught we are facing. People like you and your writings are actually helping us. Before this agitation started, lot of Telangana people were naïve enough to believe that Andhras and Telanganas are equals and that their plight was a matter of fate. But, now, the mask is lifted, the Reality is exposed (pun intended).

We know exactly what’s happening in Telangana. And we know who our adversary is.

We accept this is going to be an uphill task, because we have to fight mighty Andhras – you put a stronger and fiercer opposition than British. With British it was much easier – we just had to appeal to their nicer side. They took pride in their civilization and record of being fair and just. The same is not true of Andhras.

We do not underestimate your capabilities in stopping and halting the separation of Telangana. We do realize that our adversary is pretty well-versed in the art of using position of strength, vile, Machiavellian diplomacy including buying off MPs, MLAs and parties.

We are ordinary people trying to fight an extraordinary enemy. We know it’s not going to be easy. But please be assured that we will get Telangana this time. The more you drag this issue the more tough it is going to be for those who are fighting for Telangana and for those who are opposing Telangana.

In every people's movements laws are broken to make a statement that the system in implementation is unjust.

There are other laws which are applicable on an individual basis which should be obeyed irrespective of peace time, war time or a protest. For example, a law against stealing is natural law irrespective of what kind of fight you are fighting.

However, a law that prohibits people from congregating during a people's movement is an unjust law.

Gandhi has violated many such unjust laws but upheld just laws.

  71. Not that Reality et al would understand this, but I am writing for the benefit of other readers who may have similar questions.

"An unjust law is no law at all", said St Augustine, providing the foundation of civil disobedience movements across the globe. If a law is not really a law at all, it is argued, one has a right -- even a duty -- to break it. Martin Luther King articulated this view in his Letter from Birmingham Jail: "one has a moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws".

The great American democrat Henry David Thoreau had an answer. In his classic essay Civil Disobedience, Thoreau observed that "a government in which the majority rule in all cases cannot be based on justice".

What is the appropriate response to an unjust law, then? King argued that we should break it openly: "An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law". Thoreau agreed: "Under a government which imprisons unjustly, the true place for a just man is... a prison"... They will be upholders of a noble tradition of resistance to injustice.

This lesson regarding Thoreau was there in state board school books printed by AP govt.

Now this is what Thoreau says "An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law"

Lets apply this to yesterdays OU situation. OU students felt 144 orders were unjust and decide to take out a rally . Now when the police stopped them ,according to Thoreau they should have got themselves arrested or faced latis passively till police gave up. Where does throwing stones and attacking police fit into the logic of Henry Thoreau and Martin Luther.
Did Martin Luther ,Thoreau preach violence ?

Also on the topic of GMR , i was being sarcastic. I have no idea which region workers in GMR belong to.

Thoreau and Martin Luther King or our own M.K.G havent taught violence.
    They taught passive resistance.

What the police could have done is let the protestors carry on with their march peacefully and be very vary of any violent actions,if any were being done by them.

How much violence can a group of 250 people ,men and women ,unleash against a large batallion of 3000 armed personnel.

    The media was present ,anyways.

Why should you guys be worried when your demand is genuine , when you have data to back up your claims. This is what most andhra people have been saying since beginning. Get a new SRC , and complete the process scientifically.//

Good, and you know what how well our Congress govt. followed the first SRC reports. When they didnt respect the first SRC, why do you think they will respect the Second SRC?

And your leaders kept saying they will respect the Madum's decission, so what happened to those words after the Dec-9th statement? Do we need to trust you that you will accept the TOR commission report if it is favor to Telangana? Only in your dreams.

  104. The brutal treatment or atrocities on OU girls students have shaken me believe for last 24 hrs I am in deep shock or sadness...

100’s of girls marching fwd hand in hand towards fully armed police men, students making calls from hostel rooms to TV channels, any activists or professor or politicians who visited university to show solidarity or wanted to know the situation were arrested.

I felt like some enemy seized or taken over OU campus and have mercilessly beaten up students; girls came out to help boys held up in some Hostel “B”, it is such daring step by these girls, in middle of night surrounded by 3000 police, one girl was literally shielding 100’s of boys behind a grill fenced wall.

During this time Chief Minister is holding meeting with DGP and rumor is he asked police to act tough, Telanagana ministers went to convince Damodhar Reddy to take back resignation, sometime later Sabita Indra Reddy gives a very vague statements.

I was watching from evening around 8:30 and kept watching till 1:30 in night, it just started with peaceful procession, lead to some arguments for not allowing to march towards Tarnaka area, that’s it!!! police lathicharge, stone pedaling…chain of events triggered from this point onwards…anyone who went to help students were arrested, all pleas for seeking help on phone or TV are ignored…only two channels HMTV and ZEE 24 were actively covered and sadly even the media folks where not spared...I felt so HELPLESS , SAD…

Other then the below link could not find much…please post if you come across any videos related to y'day OU atrocities...

  106. The brutal attrocities on students yesterday is the TRUE AND ONLY INCIDENCE OF VIOLENCE in the entire Telangana movement so far.

This event beats all the hate-speaches delivered by greedy politicians.

The thunderous wrath that met the un-armed students makes every civilized person go mute in shock and wonder.

Assaults on the media prove a point... that the police action was attrocious, un-just and un-called for.

Who is truly ruling the city of Hyderabad today? Is it Indian govt. or some terrorist organizations?

Will any of those police officers hurt their own daughters the way they've dragged the OU girls by hair and stamped on their bellies? Broken their legs and showered lathis on their heads. Are they terrorists?????? Are the OU girls wanted for some terrorist act?

Was the police acting on any law?

Once the students retreat into the campus, how and why did they enter the campus? Who gave them the rights to beat up the students?

The cops are so incapable of handling kidnappers, terrorists, black-mailers and rapists.... but, hey... look... they are so efficient! They beat up unmarried young girl-students till they bleed. And the ANDHRA police take pride in this!

    SHAME ON INDIA.
    SHAME ON ANDHRA PRADESH.
    SHAME ON RESIDENTS OF HYDERABAD.

It is very simple, Andhra has waited so long to see the violence in Telangana, and by showing this they can checkmate the agitation. But it didn't happened, so the Andhra police wants to ignite the issues so that it starts the violence across the Telangana. They cleverly destroyed the news staff cameras so that no one can point out who started this.

Even Anti Naxal Grayhound police involved in this lotty charge. This is clearly showing what is the police goal.

Police even entered the campus when students retreat, that means police want to take the revenge(can any one guess what revenge?) on those telangana agitators. They taken down the electcity in campus, thats again proving this whole thing was well planned before.

After using courts to get permissions for their meet, they had the audacity to make undemocratic statements like " Andhra people who go back to their native places for pongal holidays will not be allowed back in Hyd " . Do these students own Hyd or what?

Again they made statement that if center doesnt table bill soon in parliament they will not allow andhra people in hyd. Do andhra people will have to live in hyd based on the mercy of these student naxals ?

The above statements don't include the many violent incidents done by these students.

They don't believe in democratic rights of others ,but they want all privileges offered by democracy. Even in yesterday's events students started the whole incident by attacking the police. They expected that police will fear their violent attitude. For once police acted like police.

    Cops block ambulances, cut power

In what appears to be a planned one, the police forces did not allow the `108’ ambulances onto the Osmani University campus despite many students and mediapersons being injured in the lathicharge.

Policemen entered the hostels lashing at them, not sparing even the girl students who ran for cover. They pulled some of the girls out of the hostels and beat them black and blue. Even as scores of students were writhing in pain from injuries, the ambulances were not allowed inside.

Leaving all the rules of the law to the wind, policemen, who are not supposed to beat or manhandle women, took the extreme step and dragged the girl students on to the roads holding them by their hair.

``They (police) did not even spare girls students who fell down on the road after receving injuries. They kicked them with shoes mercilessly as the students hit the ground writhing in pain,’’ Buchi Babu (M.Com) told Express.

When a reporter contacted the emergency services, he was told clearly that the police were not letting any of the ambulances into the campus till they take stock of the situation. ``We are not being given access to enter the campus by the police. We cannot help unless they let us inside,’’ said 108 services functionary.

Police even burnt the transformer of Manikeshwar Nagar in order to disrupt power supply to the hostels on the campus. As a result, there was blackout in some parts of the campus for nearly two hours.

Meanwhile, police resorted to violence on students by throwing stones and wielding lathis in an indiscriminate manner. At Godavari Hostel, police schematically destroyed the streetlights as if they were carrying out an anti-Naxalite operation and terrorised the students.

At one point of time students, who were at the recieving end for the most of the time, gained an upper hand and burnt down a tent of the police at Manikeshwar Nagar.

Even at the time of filing this story, darkness swamped the campus as power supply went off. Fresh troops are still arriving at the campus in droves and the students were being chased from NCC Gate to Shivam Road.

Knowing that many students have been devoid of medical care, few doctors courageously entered the campus to provide fist-aid. They made an appeal to doctors of Telangana region by all possible means to come to campus in order to provide treatment to the injured. But they were not allowed inside despite repeated appeals to the police.

Didn't i tell you about a clampdown. Now go figure who the telangana police takes orders from.

Really? I am willing to bet 99% of Telangana people agree that Nizam is the primary reason for backwardness of Telangana. Do you know that he banned Telugu and English throughout his state? Did you forget Razaakar movement? My college roommate was from Warangal. His family thought his dad was dead for 3 days when Razaakars burnt his village. His blood boils everytime someone like KCR says Nizam was a great king of Telangana.

well, your comments have shown that you have been blinded by extreme hatred of andhras to an extent that makes you insult your own heritage. This much hate is not healthy sir, even if you achieve your objective. You are accusing us of not fitting in cosmopolitan character? We have fit very well in all great cities of the world...including Hyderabad. You can deny it all you want, but that is the fact.

There are reasons why Telangana people praise Nizam. You don’t understand our history, our demographics, or our cultural heritage. You impose your version of Telugu pride onto use not realizing that such words are meaningless to us. That’s why I keep saying that you do not fit in the cosmopolitan character of Hyderabad. Your obsession with purity and Telugu Pride are closer to MNS and Shiv Sena versions of Mumbai, highly parochial, and highly exclusive

It was a Nizam called Osman Ali Khan who unleashed an extremely ruthless militia called Razakars under leadership of Qasim Razvi. It took intervention of Indian army to liberated Hyderabad State. It was not "once upon a time", but just 61 years back. If you think this was somehow funny (by your hehehehhaaa reaction), you are much worse than ignorant.

  146. It is good that students are more politically aware. They have every right to express themselves. But they should conduct themselves in a disciplined, restrained manner and not get into misadventures. What happened yesterday was sad. We dont know what exactly happened yet, but one can assume that even a small provocation/ incident can quickly spillover into ugly situation like yesterday and the consequences are for all of us to see.

The students today became the untouchables! (I mean like in the movie). They are given holier than thou image. In this enthusiasm, they should not forget that they are not above law. The realities and consequences could be very harsh.

Agreed, many politicians, students etc are all fighting for Telangana. But keep in mind that the politicians have their self interest before anything. They want students to further their self interests. And they got their ass covered all the time like for example, the TDP MLAs saying, they will resign if Congress MLAs do! I sincerely hope that the students realize that while their cause might be important for them, it should not be against their self and career interests. If you lose a study year or a job opportunity, you lost it forever, irrespective of Telangana. They are sabotaging their careers as well as that of the vast majority of career minded students in Telangana and AP.

  147. Sujai,

I hit your blog while searching for Srikrishna commission. Though did not find what I am looking for, it is a well written post.

Can you tell me: a) are you receiving any benefits (monetary or in kind) by writing favorably to Telangana cause? b) what are top one or two reasons for you to support a separate state for Telangana? (I browsed through your other posts as well. I need a simple answer in couple of sentences).

    Thanks.

Who started provoking game ? by calling all the names

Now u are suffering your own game, once andhras started flexing their muscle

Day before yesterday i am at OU, This entire game started by few Phd scholers, who had direct link with Professor & Harish, They want big news before starting assembly session, which helps to pressurise all TG MLAS for resignation. So this so called scholers started pelting stones on police force, Now u can understood how police will react?

May be somebody asks me my name, but i won't disclose it, I am staying at OU campus, and iam active member in the movement even though i didn't have much favour towards T state, with the fear

  151. @Anoymous,

The O.U students have planned a rally to protest Shri Krishna Comm..

That is what a pressure can do when they want to get others attention towards their cause.

Taking out a peaceful and unarmed rally expressing and expecting support towards their cause.Since when has a peaceful march, holding hands in support become unlawful ?

Have you heard of Dandi March ?

    Now,if you think what the
police did to a handful of students, civilians and the
    media was in anyways planned,
    think peacefully for a few
    minutes and tell me ,

    a)Wouldnt they have come in
    large numbers and armed ?
    b)Whoever planned this operation,
knew very well that they were clearly outnumbered, is 250=3000.
c)What was the need of opening
fire on them and beating them up so badly?
d)Why were the electrical supplying transformers destroyed?
e)The girl students had to be arrested by women police. Why then werent there any?
f)Did they have to treat those girls the way they did ?
    g)Why was the media targetted?
After all they were only doing their job.
h)Why werent ambulances allowed inside, inspite of casualties?
i)Why werent Prof.K.Ram and others not allowed inside the campus?
    j)Why were they arrested?
    And many more....
You might have seen only one aspect of the entire picture,so,your confusion is understandable.

Please refrain from supporting the Telangana cause if you feel pressurised or threatened by any one.

How can a person not strong enough to even tell what he wants to do,support others who need strength ??

Have you heard of Dandi March ?

Please don't insult our freedom fighters by comparing those great people with the present day hooligans of OU. Not just andhras ,entire country will take offence to that comparision.

    a)Wouldnt they have come in
    large numbers and armed ?

I thought OU students only used stones and sticks ,do they have arms also

    b)Whoever planned this operation,
knew very well that they were clearly outnumbered, is 250=3000.

Your figure is wrong . In the Hindu links given by Sujai ,it was reported 2000 police . Again the need to exaggerate things.

c)What was the need of opening
fire on them and beating them up so badly?

Police were in physical danger from the mob , more numbers could be joining soon, they used their judgment . They used rubber bullets not real bullets

d)Why were the electrical supplying transformers destroyed?

There is no need to destroy transformers to cut off power. Police have power to cut off power officially.

e)The girl students had to be arrested by women police. Why then werent there any?f)Did they have to treat those girls the way they did ?

Those girl students were part of the mob throwing stones at police. It is not possible always to have women police ready to handle women. I have seen on TV ,police running away unable to counter the hail of stones by students.
What if the police lost their lives because of stones hitting heads? Can OU students bring back those lives ? Will they care for the families of police?

    g)Why was the media targetted?
After all they were only doing their job

Yes ,targeting media was wrong. But i think some media personnel showed unnecessary attitude and police lost restraint. Anyway ,attacks on media should be condemned.

h)Why werent ambulances allowed inside, inspite of casualties?

Police were waiting for things to come under control . What if those ambulances and medical staff were attacked ? Who would have been responsible? We saw on the day Nagam was attacked ,how OU goons destroyed many vehicles in that vicinity.

i)Why werent Prof.K.Ram and others not allowed inside the campus?j)Why were they arrested?

Are you kidding me ? They caused this whole incident. Do you want to add fuel to fire?
If you are real well wisher of the students ,you would ask them to get back to studies or give support to movement through peaceful and democratic means.

Shameless Yerram Naidu, who was in TDP committee to find out whether TDP support Telangana or not and he accepted for Telangana, now saying Telangana issue is because of Political unemployment? Yeah, now he is un-employed so he want to do something to see his name in head lines. Any way one thing caught my eye.

The Andhra Joker Raja Gopal saying that , he will tour the Telangana border places and educate the people about the problems we face with the separation, he is also saying he will tell the same infront of TOR commission. Why cant he tell few of those problems in that meeting itself? Doent he want whole AP people to know about the problems? Or he dont have any to say?

Do you about the meaning of manifesto ? Congress clearly said in its manifesto ,it has not taken a decision on Telangana. As for TDP , PRP they lost the elections ,that means people (including telangana people) rejected their manifestos while approving manifesto of congress.

Also our basis of asking for a separate state from madras was 'language', which was later used by center to form many states. Many historians have stated that linguistic states is the reason why Indian integrity remained in tact.

You can say that in the election campaign speeches that congress cannot decide of Telangana or will not decide on Telangana. In the elections of 2009 Telangana became a non-issue, as money power got congress to power and every party said they support Telangana directly or indirectly. It is stupid to argue that people don't support Telangana based on election results. Elections always boil down to local issue( like candidates etc).

Basis for arguing for separate andhra state was pure language chavinism of telugus of madras state. If you look in northern india there are lot of hindi speaking states as opposed to only one hindi speaking state. Did that cause any disintegration. Asking for Telangana is as constitutional as asking for Telangana state. Language doesn't necessarily bind people, culture does.

    ReplyDelete
  173. Thanks to our eye opener Reality for showing the meaning of manifesto.

As I understand manifesto is a shit of a paper and has no legal value. May be not all people read the parties manifesto but most of them heard when they gave speech. See following to know how an Andhra politician can shamelessly talk ...

//Also our basis of asking for a separate state from madras was 'language'//
That is how Andhraites change the history. I took following from wikipedia...

"In an effort to protect the interests of the Telugu people of Madras state, Amarajeevi Potti Sriramulu attempted to force the Madras state government to listen to public demands for the separation of Telugu speaking districts(Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra) from Madras state to form the Andhra state."

It is saying 'to protect the interests of telugu people' but not like what you said 'because language is different'. State has divided on language basis but the reason division happened 'to protect the interests of telugu people' but not because they speak tamil and you speak telugu.

    ReplyDelete
  174. what T separatists miss when they compare with andhra separating from Madras is thiss..

Congress under Gandhi passed a resolution for language states in 1923/24.
they organized congress as per their language.

so in principal the politicians already agreed (though Nehru had some reservations, he too agreed in principal)..

except for Hindi states (which have a different history/background) all other language states are single.

so when you are comparing them, they are not exactly same.

    ReplyDelete
  175. @anonymous,

    Why did potti sriramulu die?

Andhra would have formed in 1950 but andhra leaders were adamant about Madras (remember "Madras manade" slogan)

Yup, we know that too. And we also know that Potti fought for Andhra Pradesh with Madras capital. But your leaders betrayed Potti by accepting the Andhra State without the Madras. They feared that next generations will question them, so they change the history saying Potti was the reason Andhra pradesh is created. (not mentioning any where that Potti's actual goal was the Madras)

During 1953 andhra people hated tamils. If andhra was with madras state for long it would have been worse. It was a good decision to separate andhra at the time as tempers cooled down.

How does that matter. In 1953 C Rajagopalachari gave 24 hours for all telugu people to leave madras after andhras started rioting. That does not mean that everybody left madras. Madras may have mix of telugu and tamil. Madras is tamil city officially and everybody there identify themselves with tamilnadu.

Telangana has always been people's movement even if involved politicians or students. In 1969 it was extremely violent and now it is much much peacuful. For the people of Telangana first thing that needs to be done is create Telangana.

These bustards are smart assholes they can easily confuse you by diverting the issue.

You can clearly see the favoritism and selfishness in name of the state "Andhra Prades" the word andra. When the state was formed based on the telugu language then the name of the state should be something like "Telugu Pradesh or Telugu Rastra" like we have "karnataka" for kannada people and "Tamil nadu" for tamil speaking people.

We need to just concentrate on how to keep this movement active and educate all our telangana people for non-cooperation movement and Boycotting the andhra products and services.

These andhra bustards "YSR" and "Chandra babu" have to pay the price for playing with Telangana people's sentiment. All the political bustards from andra were OK for Telanga state until 7th Dec 2009.They said if center agrees for Telangana state, we all will respect the decision. Now the same bastards are against telanga. These clearly shows the double stands from these region.

When all MLAS and PMs from andra have double standards then definitely the people representing them from the region will also have double standards.
So guys please ignore these andra bastards(Reality , Anonymous etc) in this blog.

Just focus on the things which will help to bring the telanga state.

    Jai Telangana
