What’s happening in Osmania University?

Most of the TV channels are not showing anything.  I don’t get HMTV.  However, the SMS is being used as a tool to communicate to the world outside.   I kept getting regular updates that night.  Here, I am including some links that I received from Dileep Konatham.

The Police have used Grey Hounds and Rapid Action Force in addition to CRPF, CISF and APSP Armed Battalions, Civil Police and Home Guards in Osmania University

Dileep and his friend have used RTI act to know what kind of police are stationed in Osmania University on a normal day.  The answer shows without doubt the excessive force being used by police to crush the Telangana student movement.  Note that these numbers are for a normal day and does not take into account the hundreds of Rapid Action Force and civil police personnel sent during processions or rallies in OU.  This is what they found out:

Armed Reserve Forces
3.5 Platoons of APSP (Andhra Pradesh Special Police)
3 Platoons of CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force)
3 Platoons of CISF (Central Industrial Security Force)

Civil Police
2 ACPs (Asst. Commissioner of Police)
7 Inspectors
9 Sub-Inspectors
36 Constables

[There are 30-45 police per platoon – puts it the number at nearly 350 to 500 police in OU campus].

Details about where these forces are deployed are in the attached images.

  1. The Hindu newspaper chooses to run an opinion criticizing and patronizing the JAC on its reaction, but it does not have anything to say about the police brutality on its own brethren.

If the media personnel themselves are being targeted with such brutality, one can only imagine how the voices of the poor students and common people are being suppressed. I ask of my Andhra brothers: When you criticize the hateful remarks of some of the Telangana leaders, what have you got to say about this kind of state suppression?

Answer one question. Do the students have right to throw stones at the Police personnel? Don't rules like 144 section apply to them ?

  4. "Do the students have right to throw stones at the Police personnel?"

no they should not. they should allow their heads to be broken

girls should allow themselves to be dragged by hair and humiliated before being attacked

  5. The police force as shown in your blog is grossly inadequate to control large mobs. one platoon (35 ) at each gate is meaningless if 500 students decide to go thru that gate.

What happened in dedc when the students went on a rampage on the streets of tarnaka? they damaged cars, scooters and threw stones on the citizens. A that time itself the cops should have fired real bullets and put an end to the hooliganism.
Atleast this time they have sent the right message - do wahtever you want inside the campus but don't come onto the streets where ordinary people are getting targeted. imagine the terror in the minds of the citizens if these hooligans get onto the streets again and your kid is in the vicinity.

Please keep writing POK. Your writings help us understand what we are up against.

People like you have helped increase the support for Telangana. Even those who were not committed to this cause earlier have come out in the open to declare their support after listening to what Andhra Brothers think of them.

Well said , I still remember the horror i felt in my mind ,when a pregnant lady travelling in a car was attacked with large stones by OU hooligans in Dec agitation. Police have sent the right message. Violence will not be tolerated.

  8. @sujai, Reality

And not just HMTV but all channels showed such victims of the hooliganism.

Hooliganism should be put down with an iron hand (or pellets) anywhere in the country T or Andhra or anywhere.

  9. DCP Mahesh Chandra ladda says Students have abused police but police have responded only after students throwing stones!

When SKU students thrown stones at police they had responded the same way beating students, damaging their vehicles, destroying hostel canteen etc...

poor cops staying in tents away from their homes are not to show their heads when students throw stones for doing their job! DONT test their patience if you do you will get it back very harsh...doesnt matter telangana students or andhra students they should be taught a lesson.

  12. @ Angry citizen......

u remind me of those PDSU guys we used to have in college. Good for nothing morons whose only work when not bringing street women into the hostel was to strike before the exams. Neither wanting to study nor allowing the others to study. They barely managed to pass and at the end of it all blamed the others for not getting jobs.

Yeah, whatever! But before that you need to grow some scrotal sacs and stop being anonymous.

  15. @ Kalyan,

Wonder how it helps to discuss better with a name. Maybe I'll take the name of 'telangana lover ' and it'll make you happy.

But looks like my comment touched a raw nerve. Were you also one of those moronic parasitic PDSU guys.
They destroyed the aspirations and careers of hundreds of Telangana students from the districts who used to study in JNTU.

Looks like they really ragged the crap out of you. What happened...did they drop you on your head in the process?
It's quite silly on your part to even draw such a parallel. Shows your total lack of understanding and frustration.

  19. Kalyan,

He asked you a simple question: Were you one of the PDSU SOBs or not.
If you were not, say it and be happy.
If you were ....well you know what the world thinks of them. And think of the curses of thousands of telangana students whose careers were destroyed by these PDSU crappers.

With the first statement you made in response to my comment against Angry Citizen, wonder who's frustrated.

  21. Kalyan doesn't sound like a typical PDSU guy but more like those richie rich kids from HPS etc.....much like the Doras of Telangana whose have lost their rights over the Ramulammas.

  22. I am not from Telanagana but I feel really sorry for the plight of the people of Telangana. Some people here have commented that violence should be put down with state violence using bullets. Even the Indian independence movement was not completely based on ahimsa though we are taught so. Every ahimsic agitation called by Gandhi and others encouraged section of people to violent actions. Remember the withdrawal of the Quit India movement by Gandhi after widespread violence.

I feel the govt is doing great injustice to both the people of Telangana and Andhra by allowing the hatred to take roots and grow as a tree.

  23. @ Shaan

The point you have to understand is the track record of the mobs in OU. Prior to sunday they have committed violence multiple times in the months of dec, jan. They have torched buses ,attacked private properties ,individuals. During those violent times ,everyone blamed the failures of police.

Also ,police will not use bullets just like that. Even if the mob is violent they will try to use lathi charge, tear gas ,water cannons, rubber bullets etc. Real bullets will be used only in extreme situations.

  24. Hi Sujai, Now it seems your people have attacked BHEL interview candidates from TN and Kerala along with those from Andhra too. They did this because the selection list did not feature many locals. This is really bad. We have so many Telugus here in TN, almost 6-7% of the whole population of TN is Telugu, even the government has made Ugadi a state holiday. We don't know the difference between Andhra or Telangana. We know only Telugus and we never discriminated against Telugus in any area including employment. TN has always been a place were we have welcomed outsiders and given them space to live peacefully. Your anger against Andhra may be justified but attacking candidates is not the solution because even if Telangana is formed selection for these type of PSUs will be on an all India basis. Even in TN we have many PSUs where people from other states work without any problem. Instead of targeting politicians who refuse to resign even after the JAC has requested them to resign, your people are targeting innocent people. This is a really foolish step that will only build public opinion against Telangana in other states.
